Why use Cutlia for this

Uncompressed, 16-bit

WAV stores the sound as plain PCM samples — no second round of compression, as an MP3 would add. Audio editors, DAWs and video editors all open it.

Sample rate kept

44.1 kHz and 48 kHz sound keeps its rate; mono stays mono and stereo stays stereo. Surround is mixed down to stereo, other rates become 48 kHz.

Ready for transcription

Speech software takes WAV without a codec. Or let Video to Text write it down right here, on your device.

Frequently asked questions

How big is a WAV file?

About 12 MB per minute for stereo sound at 48 kHz (11 MB at 44.1 kHz), half that for mono — roughly eight times a 192 kbps MP3. The size is shown before you convert.

Is MP4 to WAV lossless?

Nothing more is lost: the WAV holds the sound exactly as it's decoded from the MP4. It can't bring back what the MP4's compression (usually AAC) already took out — but it stops any further loss when you edit and export again.

Which sample rate will the WAV have?

The video's own when it's 44.1 or 48 kHz, as in nearly every MP4; anything else becomes 48 kHz. Samples are 16-bit, in mono or stereo like the video.

Is it really free?

Yes. Cutlia is free to use with no account, no trial and no watermark on your export. The site is paid for by the ads on it, and your files never leave your device.
