Why use Cutlia for this

Old and new formats

Opens MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI, WMV, FLV, MPG, VOB, MTS, 3GP, DV, RealMedia, GIF and more; saves MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI, MPG or WMV.

Fast remuxing

If the video stream is already compatible, it's copied without re-encoding.

iPhone videos

Turn iPhone HEVC .mov files into H.264 MP4 that plays everywhere — or keep HEVC for a quicker, smaller file.

For DVD players and older TVs

Save Xvid-compatible AVI that DivX players and USB TVs accept, or WMV for Windows Media Player and PowerPoint.

Ready for a DVD

MPEG-2 at PAL or NTSC size, 16:9 or 4:3, with Dolby Digital sound — open it in a DVD authoring program and burn.

Nothing uploaded

Conversion happens locally, so even large files start immediately.

Frequently asked questions

Which format should I convert my video to?

MP4 for almost everything: phones, computers, TVs and social media. MOV for Apple apps, WebM for websites, MKV for players like VLC and Plex. AVI, MPG and WMV are for older devices: DivX DVD players and TVs, DVD authoring, and Windows Media Player or PowerPoint.

Can it convert AVI, WMV or FLV files?

Yes. Older formats like AVI (DivX, Xvid), WMV, FLV, MPG, 3GP and RealMedia are decoded right in your browser, then saved as MP4 or any other format here. The first time, Cutlia downloads its converter (a few megabytes); your video is never uploaded.

Can I make a video for a DVD player or an old TV?

Yes. Choose AVI and turn on “For DVD players and older TVs” for an Xvid-compatible file within 720 × 576 — or choose MPG and turn on “Ready for a DVD” for PAL or NTSC MPEG-2 with Dolby Digital sound, ready to burn. Making AVI, MPG and WMV takes longer than MP4: your device's processor does the encoding.

Does it work with DVDs and camcorder files?

Yes, for your own recordings: VOB files from a DVD's VIDEO_TS folder (copy-protected movie DVDs won't work), MTS and M2TS files from AVCHD camcorders, and DV from MiniDV tapes. Widescreen pictures keep their proper shape, and interlaced DVD and DV video is deinterlaced; AVCHD's H.264 is copied as it was recorded.

Is my video uploaded to a server?

No. Cutlia processes your video directly in your browser using WebAssembly and your device's hardware. The file never leaves your computer or phone, so it stays completely private.

Is it really free?

Yes. Cutlia is free to use with no account, no trial and no watermark on your export. The site is paid for by the ads on it, and your files never leave your device.
